Our nursery

So yes, the nursery is finally totally complete...except for some shelves and pictures I want to add and the glider that is on the way, but it's done! The clothes are all washed and hung or folded. The crib sits and awaits our precious little one...it has quickly become the favorite room in the house! If the glider arrives before the baby does I imagine Hubby and I will find ourselves sitting in the chair.

I know...you all wants pics and I don't want to disappoint. I wanted to show a nice progression from drab to flab...so here is a link of a bunch of pics of the beautiful new room

So now that everything is done, we sit and wait. Every little pain I hold my breath and wonder if it's begun. So far it hasn't. I wonder if my water will break or if this little boy is as snug as a bug in a rug and doesn't want to show up just yet!

Baby, baby

Today was our appointment for the one genetic test we decided to have, one that is actually pretty simple. The test consisted of an ultrasound and me giving blood. I was excited about the ultrasound because the last u/s was really more about hearing the heartbeat.

Can I just say what a a difference 4 weeks makes!? The nurse was super cool and because she needed to get measurements we had plenty of time to see baby...that actually looks like a baby! Baby was waving his hand, kicking his feet and flipping this way and that. I had to shed a tear because it made everything seem real, finally. And then I thought about how this little person was in MY belly! Me! I (with help from Hubby) managed to do something bigger than me and create life. It's just so...wow.

The nurse was nice enough to give us a sheet of ultrasound pics, among which we found the picture we will use to give to our families. And also among these pictures is one that the nurse took from bottom up...which shows Baby's thighs and something that could be a little penis. I must admit I was stoked, I want a boy so bad! I could only look at Hubby and smile. I know it is still to early to tell and the nurse told us as much, but we figure she looks at ultrasounds all day, she would have the best informed and educated guess. But don't worry, I still have more girl names then boy names picked out...because I know God has a sense of humor. And I have 4 sisters!

We also learned that Baby is growing like a weed! Because of his size the nurse said I could be as far along as 14 weeks! This could be totally possible, but I'm blaming the growth on the fact that Hubby is 6'3"! I hope that as Baby does get bigger and take up more room in my belly we will get a more accurate picture of our due date, cause right now I can be anywhere from 12 to 14 weeks!

This is the week we decided we will tell our close friends, and so I welcome those that have decided to stop over and take a look at our journey. We are getting closer to the time where we tell the news to our families...should be a good time.

Grab the calendar and let's count again.

I had a doctor's appointment this past week and was schedule for a 2nd ultrasound. This was because of the pain I was having several weeks ago. The doctor wanted to be sure things were progressing without incident.

And they are, I'm mostly just tired. My mouth still feels like ass crap most of the time but I am getting use to it. Occassionally I will have a bout of nausea but nothing that I haven't been able to handle, thank goodness.

As we sat in the ultrasound room at our visit we were given a surprise. Apparently Baby is a lot bigger in the last two weeks and for his/her size put me at 7 weeks and 6 days instead of the 6 weeks 5 days I thought I was, from the last visit. How does that happen? Could I really have been pregnant a lot sooner than I thought? I was tracking everything from April to now. Could what I thought was my cycle been a false cycle? What about the pains I felt at the beginning of this month? They were definite implantation pains, because no cramps I've ever had felt they way they did. But the real question is...what does this mean for me when I am finally at about 30-something weeks?

I have out first ultrasound pic, which I was hoping to put up but somehow the technician must have gotten my email address wrong so I never received a picture online to post. Or the sound of a beating heart. It was all very surreal...I shed a tear listening to the 158 bpm of our little one.

And then I realized...oh crap, this is really happening!
