Baby, baby

Today was our appointment for the one genetic test we decided to have, one that is actually pretty simple. The test consisted of an ultrasound and me giving blood. I was excited about the ultrasound because the last u/s was really more about hearing the heartbeat.

Can I just say what a a difference 4 weeks makes!? The nurse was super cool and because she needed to get measurements we had plenty of time to see baby...that actually looks like a baby! Baby was waving his hand, kicking his feet and flipping this way and that. I had to shed a tear because it made everything seem real, finally. And then I thought about how this little person was in MY belly! Me! I (with help from Hubby) managed to do something bigger than me and create life. It's just so...wow.

The nurse was nice enough to give us a sheet of ultrasound pics, among which we found the picture we will use to give to our families. And also among these pictures is one that the nurse took from bottom up...which shows Baby's thighs and something that could be a little penis. I must admit I was stoked, I want a boy so bad! I could only look at Hubby and smile. I know it is still to early to tell and the nurse told us as much, but we figure she looks at ultrasounds all day, she would have the best informed and educated guess. But don't worry, I still have more girl names then boy names picked out...because I know God has a sense of humor. And I have 4 sisters!

We also learned that Baby is growing like a weed! Because of his size the nurse said I could be as far along as 14 weeks! This could be totally possible, but I'm blaming the growth on the fact that Hubby is 6'3"! I hope that as Baby does get bigger and take up more room in my belly we will get a more accurate picture of our due date, cause right now I can be anywhere from 12 to 14 weeks!

This is the week we decided we will tell our close friends, and so I welcome those that have decided to stop over and take a look at our journey. We are getting closer to the time where we tell the news to our families...should be a good time.

You better work.

Today I woke up fairly early and only because the dog was prancing around like he needed to go out. He does this most days and you would think Hubby and I would be use to it...but instead we act like it's such a chore. For me it is because I am the furthest thing from an agreeable morning person. I despise morning and morning with a crappy night's sleep is like doomsday for me.

But today was different, I had lights out at 11:10 the night before and actually slept pretty decently. So when Prince decided to do his dance I rolled right up and began my day. I took him for a walk...a walk where I had to drag him because suddenly he didn't want to be outside. And don't worry I don't really have to drag him, just give him a tug or two and let him know we are going whether he likes it or not. He usually succombs and off we go.

I managed this and then came back and decided it was a good day as any to try out a workout I had recorded from the Fit TV channel on our satellite. You must realize, I despise working out. I could do it everyday for 21 days and it still would not be a habit to me. But something about today was different. I grabbed a water bottle and did my workout. It seems like a workout I can do all week, even into pregnancy. It's a combo of some yoga, pilates and tai chi. Nothing too hardcore or wheeze inducing. In other words, just my speed. Will it keep my arse from expanding into the size of Mongolia? Time will tell, but I'm just proud I did it and enjoyed it!

It's now 5:40 and I haven't had to nap...I'm still going. Lately I haven't been able to do more than one thing without our pending bundle of joy sapping all my energy. Now if I could just rid my mouth of it's nasty taste/feeling, it could be considered a near perfect day.

Oh what a feeling!

Today I woke up feeling pretty good, which was nice. And on top of that I didn't need a nap in the middle of the day. I received my Great Expectations books yesterday and was so happy to see that it recommends taking a nap if you need it. I've needed it but alway but always feel so guilty. But today no nap was needed and the cramping that I am sure is the stretching of my uterus was very minimal. If I could only get rid of the heaviness and soreness of my breast, I'd feel like my old self!

The OB gave me a prescription for new prenatals. I was taking a generic brand I bought from Walmart, which cost about 5$. My prescription? 40$. Way for insurance to cover the charge. The pills have DHA, which is fish oil. The only bad part about them is that I can't take them with milk and they gave me fish tasting burps. I can get pass the no milk but the fisy taste is just disgusting. I'm not sure if I can do anything about that, except not burp! I have tried to take the pill with my breakfast, hoping all the food will prevent the taste, but so far it's not working.

Trying to come up with a cute way to tell our families when we finally do tell them, at about 10 -12 weeks. It will be easy to tell Hubby's parents, but I think getting mine together will be a big hint that something is up!

P.S. Apparetnly pregnancy brain fog has set in and I am starting to repeat myself.
