Happy Anniversary!

No, it's not our anniversary and while I'd love to remember friends and families anniversaries and shower them with love here on the blog, it's not that either. No instead I'm going to talk about a little part of American history that is celebrating 75 years this weekend...the Golden Gate Bridge!

The GGB is iconic, it's probably the one thing that anyone can name about San Francisco. When you visit San Fran and see it in the distance, you can't really get a feel for how big the bridge truly is and what testament it is that it was built at all. I won't give you a history lesson here but if you want to read more about the bridge take a peek over here!

Back before we had Spencer, we took a babymoon to San Francisco. It coincided with the Ghiradelli Chocolate festival and was a nice weekend away before I got too big to be comfortable walking up and down the hills of San Fran. I can't remember what we did the day we decided to visit the Golden Gate but we started our trek rather late. I think the thought process was that taking the bus would have us there in no time. I should have known better but I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with the city's public transportation system. It was pretty much right on schedule and we made it to the bridge just as the day was settling to dusk.

And it was spectacular. While I've driven over many a bridge, there was just something about the magnitude of the Golden Gate Bridge. The size of it took my breathe away and when Tim coaxed me to walk onto the bridge to take a picture...I was afraid. You probably can't tell it in the picture but where I stood was as far or as close as I wanted to go. Maybe in the daylight it would have been different!

As the Bridge gets ready to celebrate 75 years, I am happy to say I've seen it and been there. And have the pictures to prove it. I can cross that one off my bucket list!
