Capture the Everyday: What’s on Your Nightstand

This week there is no bump update or letter to baby girl, as she is now in my arms. So instead I am participating in Adventuroo's weekly meme. The assignment this week asked "What's on Your Nightstand?" I had plans to take a picture of my nightstand at home but forgot I would be in the hospital this week...so the nightstand here will have to do!

This is the nightstand on one side of my hospital bed. The other nightstand is empty. This one holds some pads, almost like puppy pads! A box of wipes barrier cloths, two menus for "room service", a breathing apparatus, a pen and a landline phone. Good times, eh?

Stream of Conciousness Sunday: You're Doing It Wrong

Photobucket

I've decided to give this weekly meme a try today. i've had a lot of things swirling in my mind all week and figured getting at least one of them out without trying to be perfect would be somewhat helpful.

Last week I flew to Boston with the Hubbs and Spencer. We went to see my brother and his wife, who moved up there for grad school. I use to love flying but now that I'm 6 months pregnant and have a child that doesn't undertand the meaning of no and quiet, it's hard. When Hubby is around to help it is easier. I gladly take the bags and strollers and let him deal with chasing Spencer around.

But when I am alone and doing it. I feel like I am doing it wrong. I feel like everyone is watching me and thinking "look at that mom, she fails." I lose my patience, I raise my voice. I even spank. I can feel my face get red as I chase Spencer, who has for the 100th time decided to go wandering.

If I put him in his stroller, it's better and I can ignore the crying and whimpering that ensues but then I am that other mother. The one that let's her child wail and bother those around her. I feel like I can't win. And since I am moving slower every day, it's just a moatter of time before he ends up hurt. Or at least that is how I feel.

I am doing it wrong. But at the end of the day, at the nd of a flight, someone actually told me I was a great mom. It did volumes for my ego. So thank you kind passenger. THank you.

So there it was, my 5 minute stream of consciousness post. It wasn't so bad...but dang, 5 minutes goes awful fast!

Getting to know you

I was tagged for this meme by Lindsay over at Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I figure it's a nice easy post for a Friday and will let some of you in on my slightly neurotic mind...but hey, aren't we all a little crazy now and then?

Here we go, Six UN-spectacular things about me, but first the rules:

1. Link the person who tagged you
2. Mention the rules on your blog
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
4. Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged

And now for something unspectacular:

1. I must wet my toothbrush before putting toothpaste on and after. If I am too sleepy to remember this, the fact that I forgot wakes me up immediately!

2. I hold grudges and make no bones about it. If you cross me and it makes me truly angry you can bet I will never forget. I know this is a very bad thing...maybe having a kid will change all that.

3. I began reading at the age of 4. I like to thank Sesame Street for this, as I do remember watching it religiously as a tot.

4. I can cry at the drop of a dime...or almost. Basically if a commercial, song, statement, scenario is sad, I will cry. This was me before pregnancy and I think it is slowly getting worse. This embarrasses me, as I should not be crying over EVERYTHING. You know that commercial were the family is crying over spilt milk? Yeah, I understand their pain.

5. In the same breath with crying I LOVE to laugh and we're talking pee on yourself, roll on the floor with tears in your eyes laughter. I pretty much go for any type of humor and comedy..dark, slapstick, stupid...I'm laughing. He-he, she said fart.

6. I was born in New York...but LOVE the Red Sox. Need I say more?

Ok, so I'm suppose to tag 6 of you's for this...but I'm going to be a total lame-o and say whoever wants to do it can...Happy Friday!!
