First Letter to Baby

Dear Baby,

Hi, it's mommy. Today you've been a constant thought on my mind. I am counting down the days until I can really feel you in my belly. There are times when I am sitting quietly and think maybe I feel you fluttering around in there but I can't ever be sure because you seem to be moving so quickly. At night just before bed Daddy will put his ear against my belly, hoping to maybe hear you. He can't be sure, but he thinks he does. You seem to be moving around a lot and the swooshing he hears gets us all giddy.

In a few weeks we will know if you are a boy or a girl and that day will be so exciting! We will finally be able to get serious about choosing a name for you and Mommy will be able to buy you specific clothing while Daddy will imagine all the fun you two will have to together.

I must tell you, trying to decide items we need to take care of you is hard work. We want the best and this requires a lot of research! Sometimes this makes Mommy frustrated because who knew there was so much baby stuff!! But we do have two things taken care of, your infant seat and your stroller. Daddy can't get enough of pushing the stroller around the house, zoom-zoom!

Mommy is getting ready to start playing you some music, hoping to make you a genius! And while I would love to start with something like NKOTB, I'll refrain and instead give you soothing and calm music. Maybe later I will work up to other music! I'm sure Daddy won't object to getting you started on some good ole country music!

As I think about what it will be like to hold you in my arms, I have to be honest and tell you sometimes the thought scares me. What if I don't do it right? What if I freeze up and don't know what to do? We both want to be such a good parents to you, but at times all of this is overwhelming. The one thing I know we will do right is loving you!

It's time for Mommy to get to bed and while I haven't had dreams about you, I look forward to them if they decide to come; sweet dreams little one.

Love,
Anxious Mommy

  2. Such a sweet an honest letter.

The music comment reminded me of Baby's reaction to music while I was pregnant... one day while in the car, Salt N Pepa's "Push It" came on the radio and she started going crazy moving around... I thought it was hilarious. Then I cried. Thank you pregnancy hormones.

  8. What a sweet post! You need to save all your posts from the last few months so you can show them to the baby when he/she grows up!

  11. This is so funny because I just went to the NKOTB concert and wondered beforehand "Should I make a shirt that says 'Youngest NKOTB fan on Board'??" LOVE that you would even THINK of playing their music to the baby! LOVE IT!!
